Job Description

Key Staffing is seeking a Welder Fabricator in the Shafter area.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position reports to and works in close cooperation with the Maintenance Manager or Project Engineer. This position, under the direction and guidance of the Maintenance Manager or Project Engineer, engages in fabricating and welding metal parts in support of maintaining productions rooms, machinery, and equipment and/or creating new plant machinery by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Welding

   ARC / MIG / TIG

• Metal Cutting and Grinding

• Blueprint/Drawing Reading

• Sets up, helps maintain, and operates saw, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.


  • Planning/Organizing: Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently; plans for additional resources; sets goals and objectives; organizes or schedules other people and their tasks; develops realistic action plans.
  • Safety and Security: Observes safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Attendance/Punctuality: Is consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrives at meetings and appointments on time.
  • Dependability: Follows instructions, responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions; keeps commitments; commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
  • Innovation: Displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness; generates suggestions for improving work; develops innovative approaches and ideas; presents ideas and information in a manner that gets others' attention.


Qualifications:

  • Education and/or Experience: One-year certificate from a college or technical school; 3 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend English instructions, correspondences, and memos. Ability to write correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
