Outside Sales Representative
Job Description
We are seeking a driven and relationship-focused Outside Sales Representative to manage and grow a customer base across three key regions: Bakersfield, Fresno, and Arroyo Grande.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the field, enjoys building long-term partnerships, and understands consultative sales. The Outside Sales Representative will be responsible for developing new business, maintaining existing accounts, and increasing market share within their territory. The right candidate is self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently while collaborating with internal teams.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with fabricators, contractors, designers, builders, and other industry professionals
- Actively prospect and generate new business within assigned territories
- Schedule and conduct regular in-person client visits across Bakersfield, Fresno, and Arroyo Grande
- Present products, promotions, and new inventory to customers
- Provide product knowledge and educate clients on materials and applications
- Prepare quotes, follow up on bids, and close sales opportunities
- Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales goals
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and pricing within the territory
- Collaborate with inside sales and operations teams to ensure smooth order processing and customer satisfaction
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and sales activity in CRM systems
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities as needed
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of outside sales experience (building materials or construction-related industry preferred)
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
- Ability to travel consistently within assigned territory
- Self-motivated with strong time management and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Preferred but not required:
- Experience in building materials industry
