Job Description
Key Staffing is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Pest Control Technician for a temp-to-hire opportunity with a nut processing facility in Tulare, CA. The Pest Control Technician will be responsible for monitoring, managing, and controlling pest populations in agricultural environments, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting crop health and productivity. This position is ideal for candidates with experience in pest management, a strong understanding of agricultural practices, and the desire to grow with a leading company in the nut production industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- - Perform routine inspections of orchards, facilities, and equipment to identify pest infestations.
- - Implement and monitor Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies, including biological, chemical, and cultural controls to minimize pest populations.
- - Safely apply pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides, adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations.
- - Maintain detailed records of pesticide usage, treatments, and monitoring results in compliance with regulatory standards.
- - Calibrate, maintain, and operate pest control equipment, ensuring the safe and efficient application of treatments.
- - Collaborate with agronomy teams and farm managers to support pest management and crop protection efforts.
- - Follow all safety procedures to protect workers, crops, and the environment from harmful exposure.
- - Assist in training farm staff on pest control measures and best practices.
- - Report pest activity and treatment outcomes to supervisors and recommend adjustments as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in pest control, preferably in an agricultural setting.
- Knowledge of pest control methods, including the safe handling and application of pesticides.
- Familiarity with Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices.
- Ability to operate and maintain pest control equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to keep accurate records.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and handle physically demanding tasks.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain required state pest control certifications.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
