Member Engagement Representative I
Location: Taft and Frazier Park, CA
Pay Rate: $26.45 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary
Schedule: Full-time schedule with occasional evening and weekend events
Travel: Up to 40% throughout Kern County

We are seeking a personable, community-focused Member Engagement Representative I to support outreach efforts for a local healthcare organization. This position will help Medi-Cal members understand their healthcare benefits, connect with available services, and become more engaged in managing their health.

The ideal candidate will live in or near the Taft area, be comfortable traveling throughout Kern County, and enjoy building relationships with members, healthcare providers, and community organizations. Bilingual English and Spanish skills are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach by phone, in person, and at community locations to connect with Medi-Cal members.
• Educate members about healthcare benefits, services, programs, and available community resources.
• Coordinate and participate in health fairs, community events, meetings, presentations, and outreach programs.
• Build and maintain relationships with healthcare providers, community organizations, schools, churches, government agencies, and local leaders.
• Assist hard-to-reach members with accessing healthcare services and special programs.
• Provide referrals to programs such as Enhanced Care Management and Community Support Services.
• Make presentations to members, provider offices, schools, and community organizations.
• Maintain outreach materials, displays, and informational resources at community and provider locations.
• Document member interactions and outreach activities accurately in multiple data systems.
• Track outreach results and prepare monthly summaries and activity reports.
• Participate in occasional evening and weekend events.
• Travel throughout Kern County as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of experience in customer service, healthcare, community outreach, sales, or marketing.

OR

• At least four years of experience in customer service, healthcare, community outreach, sales, or marketing.

Experience working for a health plan, managed care organization, community-based organization, nonprofit, healthcare provider, or social services agency is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Familiarity with Taft, Frazier Park, and surrounding Kern County communities.
• Experience working with Medi-Cal members or underserved populations.
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
• Comfortable conducting outreach in members’ homes and community settings.
• Strong organization, time-management, and documentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn healthcare data systems.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel up to 40%.

Pay Rate: $26.45 per hour
