Machine Operator
Job Description
Position Overview:
The Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating and monitoring production machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring production goals are met while maintaining strict adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards.
The operator will be responsible for setting up equipment, performing routine inspections, identifying potential mechanical issues, and reporting maintenance needs to ensure machines remain operational, efficient, and compliant. Additional responsibilities include supporting production flow, maintaining work areas, and assisting with basic equipment upkeep as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform pre- and post-operation inspections to ensure machinery is clean, functional, and operating safely
- Operate and monitor production equipment to meet daily output and efficiency targets
- Adjust machine settings to maintain product quality and optimize performance
- Monitor equipment during operation to identify issues and minimize downtime
- Perform product changeovers and assist with line setup for different production runs
- Ensure proper handling, packaging, and staging of finished goods
- Conduct in-process quality checks to ensure products meet company standards
- Maintain accurate production records, including output, downtime, and quality data
- Assist with material handling and ensure continuous supply to production lines
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace in compliance with OSHA and company safety guidelines
- Perform basic preventative maintenance such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting equipment
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- 1–3+ years of experience operating production or manufacturing equipment preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues
- Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds
- Repetitive movements including bending, reaching, and lifting
- Exposure to varying temperatures depending on production environment
- Ability to work in environments with noise, machinery, and moving equipment
