Industrial Maintenance Mechanic III
Location: Lost Hills, CA
Pay: $29.00–$38.00 per hour
Shift: Swing Shift, 10:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
Schedule: Full-time, non-exempt
Position Summary
The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic III is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, rebuilding, and repairing complex industrial recycling machinery and heavy equipment. This senior-level mechanic will handle advanced mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic repairs, lead major repair projects, and mentor junior maintenance staff.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair engines, hydraulic systems, powertrains, electrical systems, and electronic controls.
Rebuild and overhaul transmissions, axles, hydraulic pumps, motors, gearboxes, and rotating equipment.
Troubleshoot computerized control systems, sensors, wiring, ECUs, and controllers.
Lead complex repair projects and coordinate work with mechanics, technicians, operators, and supervisors.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to reduce equipment downtime.
Maintain accurate repair records, parts usage, service history, and future maintenance needs.
Train and mentor Mechanic I and Mechanic II employees.
Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend long-term reliability improvements.
Follow all safety, environmental, PPE, and hazardous-material handling requirements.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; advanced technical certifications are preferred.
At least five years of industrial maintenance or heavy-equipment mechanic experience.
Advanced knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems.
Experience using computerized diagnostic systems and specialized repair tools.
Strong troubleshooting, leadership, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and train junior mechanics.
Preferred Experience
Welding, fabrication, and equipment-layout skills.
Exposure to VFDs, PLCs, automation, or control systems.
Experience with vibration monitoring, thermography, oil analysis, or other reliability programs.
Physical and Work Requirements
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
Potential exposure to hazardous or irritating substances while using required protective equipment.
Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull 25–50 pounds.
Climb on and around equipment and climb at least two stories of stairs.
Walk, stand, or sit for extended periods.
Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a drug screen and physical.
