Industrial Forklift Operator

Location: Shafter, CA
Pay: $21/hr.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM

Job Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced Industrial Sit-Down Forklift Operator for a busy distribution yard in Shafter, CA. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity for a dependable, safety-conscious individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced outdoor industrial environment.

The ideal candidate will have recent sit-down forklift experience handling lumber or other oversized materials, strong attention to safety, and the ability to work closely with yard personnel, drivers, and warehouse staff to ensure efficient material movement and order fulfillment.

Responsibilities

• Operate a sit-down forklift to safely load, unload, transport, and stage lumber and building materials.
• Load and unload flatbed trucks, trailers, and delivery vehicles.
• Move materials throughout the yard while following all safety procedures.
• Pull and stage customer and delivery orders accurately.
• Inspect incoming and outgoing materials for damage and accuracy.
• Perform daily pre- and post-operation forklift inspections.
• Maintain organized storage areas and keep the yard clean and safe.
• Assist with inventory counts and material organization.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, yard personnel, and supervisors.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
• Assist with general yard duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of recent sit-down forklift experience in an industrial, lumber, or manufacturing environment.
• Experience handling long, heavy, or oversized materials preferred.
• Ability to safely load and unload flatbed trailers.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor throughout the shift.
• Must be dependable, proactive, and willing to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in lumber yards, building materials, or industrial warehouses.
• Experience with inventory control and material staging
• Experience loading oversized or specialty materials is highly desirable.
