Position Overview
Key Staffing is currently recruiting for a Handyman to support the daily maintenance and upkeep of multiple healthcare facilities. This position is responsible for performing general building maintenance, preventative maintenance, facility repairs, and assisting with clinic relocations and tenant improvement (TI) projects.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, self-motivated, and able to diagnose maintenance issues while providing excellent customer service in a professional healthcare environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform general building maintenance, including carpentry, painting, drywall repair, and minor facility repairs.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose maintenance issues involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other building systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and facility issues.
- Assist with clinic relocations, office moves, new facility openings, and tenant improvement (TI) projects.
- Complete drywall patching, painting, touch-up work, and basic finish carpentry as needed.
- Repair and replace fixtures, doors, locks, hardware, ceiling tiles, and other building components.
- Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned work orders.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, vendors, and facility staff regarding maintenance requests and project updates.
- Prioritize work orders while demonstrating strong time management and follow-through.
- Identify potential maintenance concerns and proactively resolve issues before they become larger problems.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas while following OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Travel to multiple facility locations as needed, including occasional overnight travel (1–2 nights) to San Luis Obispo (SLO).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of maintenance, facilities, construction, or building maintenance experience.
- Strong knowledge of general maintenance, including carpentry, painting, drywall, and basic plumbing.
- HVAC troubleshooting experience is preferred.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting experience is preferred.
- Ability to diagnose maintenance issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, ladders, hand trucks, and other maintenance equipment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Self-motivated with strong initiative and attention to detail.
- Professional appearance and customer service mindset.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Current automobile insurance.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel between facility locations and stay overnight when business needs require.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
- Comfortable climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Must successfully pass all pre-employment screenings, including background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle record review.
- Must comply with company appearance standards, including tattoo and piercing policies.
