Job Responsibilities and Physical Demands

1. Trailer Unloading:

   • Take bundles of plants from trailers and throw them onto a conveyor belt.
   • Physical Demands: Standing for extended periods, repetitious lifting and tossing of 20 to 50 pounds.

2. Table Loading:

   • Place bundles on tables, cut strings, and toss bundles onto conveyor belts.
   • Physical Demands: Standing, repetitious lifting (25 to 50 pounds), bending, and twisting.

3. Belt Feeder:

   • Separate plants from bundles and place them for grading.
   • Physical Demands: Standing, repetitive movements, and lifting 10 to 15 pounds.

4. Grader:

   • Assess plants on the conveyor for quality and grade standards.
   • Physical Demands: Standing, repetitive hand movements, and lifting 10 to 15 pounds.

5. Labeling:

   • Place identification labels on plants as they move down the conveyor.
   • Physical Demands: Standing, repetitive hand movements, and lifting 5 to 15 pounds.

6. Bundler:

   • Gather plants into bundles of five for transfer to the Tying Machine Operator.
   • Physical Demands: Standing, repetitive reaching and lifting (5 to 15 pounds).

7. Tying Machine Operator:

   • Tie bundles of plants using a tying machine.
   • Physical Demands: Standing, repetitive hand movements, and lifting 5 to 20 pounds.

8. RFID Labeling:

   • Attach RFID labels to bundles for inventory tracking.
   • Physical Demands: Standing, repetitive hand movements, and lifting 5 to 20 pounds.

9. Saw Operator:

   • Use a band saw to cut plant bundles to size.
   • Physical Demands: Standing, repetitive movements, and lifting 5 to 20 pounds.

10. Rack Loader:

    • Stack bundles of plants on storage racks.
    • Physical Demands: Standing, repetitive movements, and lifting 5 to 30 pounds.

11. Label Operator:

    • Prepare labels for processing and ensure only one variety is on the floor.
    • Physical Demands: Standing, walking, and lifting 5 to 15 pounds.

12. Computer Operator:

    • Operate computers to verify inventory and ensure accurate counts for shipping.
    • Physical Demands: Standing, repetitive movements, and lifting 5 to 30 pounds.

13. Packer:

    • Pack plants in boxes, verify counts against sales orders, and seal boxes.
    • Physical Demands: Standing, repetitive hand movements, and lifting 5 to 30 pounds.

14. Washer:

    • Clean plants and remove debris before shipping.
    • Physical Demands: Standing, repetitive movements, and lifting 5 to 30 pounds.

15. Cart Driver/Puller:

    • Maintain carts, retrieve customer orders, and transport plants to the shipping line.
    • Physical Demands: Exposed to cold, bending, and lifting 5 to 30 pounds.

16. Pull Room Cleaner:

    • Maintain cleanliness in the pull room and assist pullers.
    • Physical Demands: Standing, repetitive movements, and lifting 5 to 30 pounds.

17. Dock Operator:

    • Organize packaged boxes for shipping and communicate with the shipping crew.
    • Physical Demands: Standing, lifting 15 to 50 pounds, and repetitive movements.

18. Box Makers:

    • Create boxes for shipping and insert liners.
    • Physical Demands: Standing, repetitive movements, and lifting 5 to 15 pounds.

19. Forklift Driver:

    • Operate forklifts to move materials and load/unload trucks.
    • Physical Demands: Exposed to cold, lifting up to 700 pounds, and frequent movement.

Job Skill Standards

Pay Rates

• Hourly Pay Rate: Ranges from $16.50 to $17.00 depending on the role and responsibilities.
