Job Title: Electrical Mechanical Technician (EMT)
Reports To: Maintenance Manager I
Department: Maintenance
Location: Tulare, CA


Position Summary:
The Electrical Mechanical Technician (EMT) is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical circuits and related systems. Working closely with other maintenance technicians, the EMT ensures that all equipment operates efficiently and reliably to support scheduled production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform shutdowns and startups of equipment.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical power, communications, and control systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and inspect circuit breakers and other electrical components.
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment.
  • Complete routine building maintenance tasks, including plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Diagnose issues to prevent losses in efficiency and reliability, assisting in root cause analysis for equipment failures.
  • Monitor and adjust production flows, rates, temperatures, viscosity, and line pressure.
  • Troubleshoot minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement.
  • Ensure machinery operates at optimum functionality to maintain product quality.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete documentation in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff within and outside the maintenance team.
  • Adhere to all Food Safety and Employee Safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist other maintenance technicians with breakdowns, line maintenance, and equipment upgrades.
  • Help the sanitation team with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly maintenance shop and workstation.
  • Order parts and complete tasks as assigned by leads, supervisors, or management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.


Skill and Ability Requirements:

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, including working with 24VDC, 120VAC, and 240/480VAC circuits.
  • Ability to identify shorts, test motors, and recognize various electrical circuit components.
  • Experience testing 2-phase motors and using a Fluke meter.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance trades, industrial maintenance procedures, and repair techniques.
  • Familiarity with machinery, equipment, and tools essential for industrial maintenance and repair.
  • Strong understanding of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Ability to read blueprints, assembly instructions, and follow detailed technical documentation.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools and effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and prioritize tasks based on urgency.


Qualifications and Certifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of industrial maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in industrial maintenance and repair for equipment such as bucket elevators, conveyors, pasteurizers, roasters, and similar machinery.
  • Over 2 years of experience as an electrician or in a related field is preferred.
