Job Description
Key Staffing is seeking a motivated Automation Technician Level I to join our team. This role involves performing minor electrical automation work, as well as mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic processes. The successful candidate will assist in preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment and contribute to the training and development of facility Packaging Machine Operator personnel.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience operating automated equipment or in automation/technical maintenance.
- Strong mechanical skills.
- Familiarity with industrial/manufacturing automation environments is a plus.
- Experience with pneumatic systems is a plus.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical equipment documentation.
- Proficiency in simple math calculations for the layout and installation of circuits for automation systems.
- Ability to determine the appropriate equipment necessary for the job.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new skills and techniques.
- Must pass Lockout/Tagout training.
- Must pass Quality Control GMP testing.
- Working knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ability to read, write, and understand written information in English.
- Availability to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday) as required.
- Valid Driver’s license with a clean DMV record.
- Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen, physical, and functional capacity evaluation.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform minor electrical automation work, including installing, maintaining, and repairing automation equipment and infrastructure under supervision.
- Assist in equipment improvement projects to reduce downtime, enhance quality, and lower costs.
- Troubleshoot minor electrical problems in industrial automation systems using blueprints, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and verbal instructions.
- Identify and retrieve required parts and materials for projects and repairs.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies in good working condition.
- Identify machine malfunctions and report findings to the shift supervisor/manager.
- Monitor the performance of packaging lines, diagnose potential problems, and create work orders.
- Record breakdown time in INFOR and prioritize tasks based on importance and workload.
- Assist in the training and development of facility Packaging Machine Operator employees.
- Contribute to various aspects of plant operation.
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety and plant policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
- May be required to rotate to different areas of the plant based on business needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
