Direct Hire | Full-Time | Exempt
Salary Range: $90,000 – $110,000 annually

Key Staffing is partnering with a well-established, mission-driven organization to recruit an experienced Assistant Human Resources Manager. This role plays a critical part in supporting senior HR leadership while overseeing day-to-day HR operations and guiding a multidisciplinary HR team.

The Assistant HR Manager serves as a central liaison between HR leadership and the operational HR staff, ensuring alignment, consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement across all HR functions.

Position Summary

The Assistant Human Resources Manager supports senior HR leadership by coordinating daily HR activities, overseeing workflow execution, and assisting with department-wide initiatives. This role provides leadership, guidance, and structure to the HR team while ensuring compliance with employment laws and internal policies.


The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with broad experience across employee relations, compliance, recruiting, benefits, training, and HR operations.


Key Responsibilities:

HR Leadership & Team Support

  • Act as a day-to-day liaison between HR leadership and HR staff to ensure alignment with departmental goals
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and operational support to HR team members across multiple HR functions
  • Promote consistency, accountability, and collaboration within the HR department

HR Operations & Process Improvement

  • Review, enhance, and streamline HR workflows to improve efficiency and employee experience
  • Coordinate cross-functional HR activities including recruiting, benefits administration, training, and employee relations
  • Assist in developing performance metrics and accountability measures for HR operations

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Support the resolution of escalated employee relations matters and complex HR issues
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and internal policies
  • Assist with policy development, updates, and implementation

Projects & Strategic Initiatives

  • Lead or support department-wide projects such as HRIS enhancements, policy rollouts, and process automation
  • Provide reporting, analytics, and insights related to HR trends, risks, and operational performance
  • Support departmental budgeting, staffing plans, and compliance tracking

Communication & Engagement

  • Serve as a point of contact for internal HR communications, updates, and initiatives
  • Support employee engagement efforts and promote HR as an accessible, responsive resource


Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience
  • At least 1–2 years in a supervisory, lead, or coordination role
  • Experience across multiple HR disciplines (employee relations, recruiting, benefits, training, compliance)

Preferred

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • High level of discretion and emotional intelligence
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and multitasking skills
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite


Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Primarily office-based role
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • Occasional bending, lifting, and reaching
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
